Interview

When and how did you get your start in marketing?

I started on the agency side and was exposed to many different areas of marketing and analytics. I had a few email marketing-related projects and ultimately fell in love with that area. I later moved into an in-house email marketing role and continued to build upon my skill sets.

What brings you joy in your role?

As a marketer, I find tremendous joy in utilizing both the left and right sides of my brain while working on lifecycle campaigns. This not only keeps my mind engaged and active but also allows me to approach my work in a more well-rounded and effective manner.

What challenges was your team experiencing prior to Iterable? How has Iterable helped address these challenges?

I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to use many marketing automation tools in my career. Some of the challenges were around general user experience, data/API failures, and difficulty in getting support.

What led you to choose Iterable over others in the market?

The overall ease of use was a big selling point. This tool was clearly built with the marketer in mind and was able to solve our pain points. Another big sticking point was the increased level of customer support. Luckily, I don’t have to reach out to support often but having an in-app chat support has been a game changer.

What are some Iterable features that have made your job easier? Or have been game-changers for yourself and your team?

  • The customer journey builder is so easy and intuitive. It makes it easy for us to launch campaigns with agility like never before.
  • Partnerships and integrations with other tools such as Hightouch for data syncing have also helped us solve a massive pain point.
  • The in app support chat feature is another big differentiator with other tools as well. I’m able to chat with a support agent typically in less than 1 minute.

As a consumer, what brings you joy from a brand’s outreach/communication?

Relevancy and personalization are key. A brand that is able to tailor well-timed and relevant content will keep me subscribed.

Besides Iterable, what are the other tools in your marketing toolkit that you can’t live without?

A reverse ETL tool like Hightouch helps us sync data into Iterable with little to no dev support. I can personally create and sync segments, profile data, and events and use them to scale our personalization effort.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

From my high school English teacher – Don’t wait until you’re retired to travel. You never know what life will throw your way.

If you weren’t a marketer, what would you be?

A voice-over artist. I’ve always been drawn to this for some reason even though I’d probably be reaallyy bad at it.
